SEASON VIII: CHECKMATE Gearing Up for Wipe

Season VIII is getting closer, and while we aren't reinventing everything, we've made quite a few changes behind the scenes to keep progression going longer, give you more to explore, and bring some of that old-school grind back to M.W.M.

Tier 6 Loot Is Gone

You will no longer find Tier 6 gear in loot.

Yeah, I said it.

How are we supposed to call this a hard server when you can eventually rummage through enough trash and magically find some of the best gear in the game?

Nope. We're going back to the old way.

The highest quality you'll find while looting is Tier 5. If you want Tier 6, you're going to have to learn it, craft it, and earn it.

Crafting is officially back in the rotation instead of becoming useless the second RNG decides to bless you.

Two New M.W.M. Endgame Melee Weapons

For the people who like solving their problems up close and personal, we're adding two new endgame melee weapons:

M.W.M. Hells Hammer Our new endgame sledgehammer.

M.W.M. Attitude Adjuster Because apparently sometimes a steel club needs to make a statement.

Both were built specifically for the M.W.M. endgame progression and hit considerably harder than their normal counterparts. They also come with their own special knockdown/proc mechanics.

You'll still have to work for them. We're not just handing you the good shit.

New World Boss Arena

Our World Boss system is getting a proper home.

TheKrackN, Mayo & Ducky have been working on a brand-new **World Boss Arena for Season VIII.

The Jailer and Last Call aren't going anywhere but now you'll have somewhere specifically designed to fight them and the absolute bullshit they bring with them.

And remember:

M.W.M. Endgame Weapons are DISABLED inside the World Boss combat zone.

Bring your Legendary gear.

You don't get to delete a five-million-HP boss in thirty seconds with your shiny endgame toy and call it a boss fight. 😂

New Modern Starter Home

The Starter Home is getting an upgrade for Season VIII.

Ambi has built us a new, smaller modern starter home that will replace the current oversized starter house.

You'll still have somewhere to get established without spending your first several days living in a wooden box — but protecting it is still your problem.

This is Project Z.

The zombies do not give a shit about your property value.

50+ More POIs

Because apparently we didn't already have enough places for you guys to get lost, trapped, infected, or killed...

We've added 50+ additional POIs to the Season VIII lineup.

More buildings.
More locations.
More places to loot.
More places to explore.
More places to say "this looks safe" immediately before everything goes horribly wrong.

Some are small. Some are large. Some you probably shouldn't walk into alone.

Naturally, you're going to anyway.

New Season. New Map.

Season VIII will be played on a new map regardless.

We're also working toward a custom M.W.M. map with a redesigned Chaos Central and community marketplace. If everything is ready in time, you'll see a completely different approach to our central player area this season. If not then we will save that for next season NO BIG DEAL

And yes we're packing the map with even more things for you to discover.

Progression Is Getting Some Teeth Back

A lot of the Season VIII changes have one goal:

Give you something to work toward again.

Finding everything shouldn't replace crafting.

Endgame weapons shouldn't make every piece of content irrelevant.

World Bosses should actually feel like World Bosses.

Exploration should still matter hundreds of days into the season.

And reaching endgame should feel like you actually earned it.

We're still running Insane difficulty.

We're still running the full Project Z overhaul experience.

We're still giving you the tools to survive the beginning.

What happens after that is between you and the wasteland.
